Accessibility

We recognise the importance of providing a website that is inclusive and available for all user groups.

The following statement applies to: wearegateley.com

We regularly review and make improvements to the user experience for everyone and apply the relevant accessibility standards to guide our approach.

How compliant are we?

This website conforms to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. These guidelines are developed by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) to ensure digital content is accessible to a wide range of users, including individuals with disabilities. Our site has been designed and tested to meet all Level A and Level AA success criteria, ensuring that content is perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust across modern browsers and assistive technologies.

You should be able to:

  • Navigate most of the website using a keyboard. We have provided “skip to main content” links to allow direct access past the navigation menu to the page’s main content.
  • Vary the text size and contrast using your device or browser settings. We have checked text and background colour combinations to ensure that the contrast is sufficient and we have also ensured that information is not referenced by colour alone.
  • Use screen readers across the website. We have provided appropriate alternative text for images and have added HTML heading elements to represent page structure.

What we’re doing to improve accessibility

We undertake regular automated and assisted audits of our site using an external, industry-recognised, testing provider to benchmark our current performance and provide areas of non-conformance.

Accessibility checks that are not compliant are included in our development roadmap.

Third-party content and functionality

We make use of third-party applications that are embedded into our website via an iframe. Wherever possible we ensure these are conformant, in some cases these are not accessible using screen readers.
